Chapter 4 introduces sets and their members. We present the notation of some well known sets, including the integers, rational numbers, real numbers, and complex numbers. We discuss universal and existential quantifiers and practice negating statement forms using symbolic notation. In Tips on Quantification we discuss some of the finer points of the subject and offer additional problems that foreshadow definitions and concepts students will meet in their analysis classes.
