Virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) can be used to validate the functional roles of plant genes by infecting plants with viruses carrying target gene segments. In this chapter, we describe VIGS in rose using tobacco rattle virus (TRV) in RNA virus vectors. By silencing the target genes in rose, the roles of related genes in the process of petal abscission can be studied.

摘要

Virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) can be used to validate the functional roles of plant genes by infecting plants with viruses carrying target gene segments.
