Detection of Microalgal Community from Soil and Plant Root
摘要
Microalgae are autotrophic microorganisms that gained attention for producing bioactive compounds used in different environmental and industrial sectors. Many new species are being discovered, still a large portion remains unexplored and unidentified. Microalgae are usually identified based on their morphological features but the results are misleading sometimes. A polyphasic approach using both, i.e., morphological and molecular-based techniques, is necessary for proper identification and characterization. This chapter provides a protocol for the detection of microalgae from soil and plant samples based on morphological and molecular approaches.
