The dopaminergic state of typical or atypical Parkinson’s disease likely plays a substantial role in these effects and needs to be taken into account in these studies or future individualized treatments. Pharmacological knowledge achieved in normal subjects likely will play a role in the optimized protocols. Beyond that, these methods have potentials in direct manipulation of the neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory process in diseases like typical or atypical Parkinson’s disease.
