In the realm of synthetic organic chemistry, photoinduced synthesis has been skyrocketing in the last two decades due to harnessing of eco-friendly potential light energy to perform complex chemical reactions. At the same time, imidazopyridine and imidazothiazole are two eminent heterocycles, which are widely seen in medicinal as well as industrial chemistry. Therefore, the utilization of photo energy for the synthesis of these two heterocycles is highly commendable. This book chapter summarizes all the light-induced synthesis of imidazopyridines and imidazothiazoles published so far.
