Nuclear imaging has become a vital tool for evaluating and assessing bone tumors and tumor-like lesions by providing more functional information than traditional modalities such as X-rays, CT, or MRI. Techniques like 99mTc-MDP bone scintigraphy (bone scan) and 18F-fluoride PET are increasingly sensitive due to technological advancements, allowing for the assessment of bone turnover, identification and characterization of bone lesions, monitoring of treatment response, and evaluation of metastatic disease. These nuclear medicine techniques are often used alongside conventional imaging methods like X-ray, CT, and MRI and are also integrated with clinical findings to improve diagnosis and management strategies.
