In this chapter, measurements relevant in the thyroid gland, lymph nodes, and esophagus will be discussed. First, an overview of the origin and physiological foundation of the anatomic structures as well as the importance and current indications in clinical routine will be discussed. Then, a practical description of how the measurements will be performed and the standard measurement values are given. Finally, the potential pitfalls or possible confounding factors and how to avoid them will be discussed.
