Alkalinising of the Acidic Tumour Microenvironment Makes Cancer Treatment Easier and Milder
摘要
Cancer cells thrive in an acidic microenvironment, which contributes to their resistance to conventional treatments. This review explores the biological underpinnings of this phenomenon, including the role of mitochondrial dysfunction and altered pH levels. It discusses the potential benefits of alkalising therapy, which aims to create a more favourable pH environment for cancer treatment by dietary changes and intravenous or oral alkalising agents. Clinical cases illustrate the effectiveness of this approach in reducing side effects and improving survival rates, particularly in refractory cancers. Alkalising therapy represents a promising adjunct or alternative to traditional cancer treatments, emphasising the need for a holistic approach to patient care.
