Potential Role of Artificial Intelligence in the Treatment of Glioblastoma in Children and Adults

Glioblastoma is the most aggressive primary tumor of the central nervous system with a very poor prognosis. 50% of patients die in an average of 11 months after diagnosis. Therefore, advancements in treatment are crucial to increase survival time and help the patients suffer less from their condition. In the world today, artificial intelligence plays a significant role in medicine in different fields including diagnosis, decision-making, treatment, and prognosis. In recent years, several studies have focused on the role of AI in the management and treatment of glioblastoma due to the importance of glioblastoma as an aggressive tumor to find a promising perspective in its therapy. This chapter aims to integrate the results of these articles. Hereafter, we will start by introducing glioblastoma and discussing its features. Then we will explain different methods of glioblastoma management and treatment. Finally, we will introduce the role of artificial intelligence in medicine and elucidate its roles in the improvement of each mentioned therapeutic method.
