Analyzing the Effects of Tectonic Movements with Helmert Transformation Parameters
摘要
Translation, rotation, and scale parameters between two different reference frames, are determined using a 7-parameter Helmert transformation. The parameters represent the distance between the origin of the coordinate systems (translation), angular distortions between coordinate axis (rotation), and lengthening or shortening between coordinate axis (scale). Tectonic movements, depending on the structure of the fault zone, cause horizontal or vertical deformations. As a result of tectonic movements occurring in the strike-slip faults, while deformations in the horizontal component are dominant, deformations in the vertical component are smaller compared to the horizontal deformations. The changes caused by the deformations can be defined using translation, rotation, and scale parameters in a coordinate system. In this study, it is aimed to analyse the effects of deformations caused by tectonic movements using transformation parameters in triangular areas. The area affected by the earthquakes that occurred with magnitudes Mw 7.7 and Mw 7.6 in Kahramanmaraş on the 6th of February 2023 is selected as a study area. A geodetic GNSS network containing 23 Turkish National Permanent GNSS Network-Active (TNPGN-Active) stations is generated in the area affected by the earthquakes.
