Cultivated meat offers an alternative way to produce animal-based protein and has been positioned as a possible solution to produce meat in a more sustainable manner. As a novel production method with uncertainty about the characteristics of the final product, cultivated meat needs to gain both societal and consumer acceptance in order to succeed in the market. In this chapter, factors influencing consumer and social acceptance are discussed as well as reflections on the future acceptability of cultivated meat.

Cultivated meat offers an alternative way to produce animal-based protein and has been positioned as a possible solution to produce meat in a more sustainable manner. As a novel production method with uncertainty about the characteristics of the final product, cultivated meat needs to gain both societal and consumer acceptance in order to succeed in the market.
