Microalloying of Gray Cast Iron for Use in Brake Disks
摘要
Abstract
The influence of the concentration of microalloying additives—sulfur, molybdenum, and titanium—on the properties of gray cast iron and its wear resistance is investigated in conditions resembling those in a disk brake. Laboratory tests of the wear resistance employ special apparatus simulating friction between a brake disk and pad. When the concentration of microalloying additives is optimal, the wear resistance of gray cast iron is markedly increased, with consequent increase in the working life of brake disks and in vehicle safety.
