Improving the Wear Resistance of Ceramic Inserts with a TiB2 Coating Using Ion-Assisted Magnetron Sputtering

Abstract
The article considers deposition of TiB2 coatings by ion-assisted magnetron sputtering. The effect of ion assistance on the characteristics of TiB2 coatings deposited on cutting inserts made of Al2O3/TiC ceramics is shown. Assessments of the wear resistance of ceramic inserts with TiB2 coatings during longitudinal turning of tool die steel Kh12MF are given.
