Control of the Contact Strength of Surface-Hardened Gears, Taking Account of Their Mechanical Properties

Abstract
For EI415-Sh, 18Kh2N4MA, VKS-5, and 12Kh2N4A(Sh) steel gears, prediction of the contact strength of the working surfaces on the basis of multistage design of transmissions is considered. The influence of the manufacturing technology for the gears—taking particular account of the thermochemical treatment—on the contact stress at engagement may expediently be assessed using a data set regarding the mechanical properties of the materials, thereby integrating computer resources in the physical process.
