Improving the Surface Quality of Parts Made of Thermally Non-Hardenable Aluminum Alloy by Ball Flow Machining

Abstract
The effectiveness of the finishing and hardening treatment of parts made of AMg6 thermally non-hardenable aluminum alloy employing ball flow hardening has been investigated. It is shown that in the treated specimens, the surface roughness parameter is significantly lower compared with that of untreated surface, while hardness and the hardening depth of the surface layer are higher.
