Abstract <p>To improve the quality and productivity in agricultural processing of roots and tubers and to reduce energy costs, a new storage–feeder unit has been developed; the defects of earlier designs have been eliminated. The new design employs a trapezoidal hopper with a trough and also intermediate supports for the horizontal chain and a screw-type tension device. That improves the reliability and productivity of the new system and results in a more economical process.</p>
