Abstract <p>The article considers a method for locating coils with hidden faults in three-phase windings of electric machines equipped with a ring measuring transducer (RMT) for protection against turn-to-turn short circuits. Shorted turns in the diagnosed coil are identified by the occurrence of an EMF in the RMT. The proposed method simplifies the diagnostics process and increases its reliability, reduces the amount of necessary equipment, and makes it possible to perform machine repairs by cutting out the faulty coil of stator winding.</p>
