Abstract

The influence of copy-piercing electric discharge machining on the surface microrelief of Russian polymer composites based on VKU-39/VTkU-2.200 [−45/0/+45/90] prepreg produced by vacuum shaping. The surface microrelief of the samples is investigated in two perpendicular planes at points subject to copy-piercing electric discharge machining. No depressions or craters are seen on the machined surfaces in the transverse section. Glassy inclusions are present: their content is 20–25% in the transverse section and 30–35% in the longitudinal section. These inclusions are mainly localized within the fibrous material.
