Abstract <p>The article presents the results of research on the development of a method for modeling data transmission paths in specialized computing systems for the purposes of assessing the impact of possible degradation of path properties on the system’s performance. The method, based on specially developed software, is used to assess the impact of changes in path properties on the time and reliability characteristics of the system, taking into account the specifics of existing transmission protocols developed on the basis of the TCP/IP protocol stack. A distinctive feature of this approach is its capability of using the actual workload in the analysis, which ensures high reliability of the results. The method has found application in the processes of debugging and adapting software during modernization and operation of specialized distributed computing systems.</p>
