Increasing the Durability of Universal Steel Drill Pipes by Final Electromechanical Surface Hardening

Abstract
The results of bench tests of universal steel drill pipes (USDPs) after laser hardening, carbonitriding, and final electromechanical surface hardening (EMSH) are presented. The structure and hardness of the external and internal conical–metric lock threads of Z-53 and Z-57 nipples and pipe couplings after EMSH are investigated.
