A Converter Based on a Two-Channel Bridgeless Rectifier

The article is devoted to the development and investigation of a converter intended for use in hybrid power systems, battery chargers, and laboratory power supplies. A circuit solution based on adapting the topology of a two-channel bridgeless rectifier for a converter with a bipolar output voltage and a similar set of components makes it possible to reduce the variety of the component base and the cost of the converter. A computer simulation model of the converter was developed, which was used to validate control algorithms and study the effectiveness of output voltage regulation. Simulation results showed that the nonlinearity coefficient of the output-voltage transfer function and the ripple coefficient did not exceed allowable values (1.5 and 1.25%, respectively). Tests of the converter as part of a prototype low-voltage solid-state transformer confirmed the converter’s effectiveness. The average output voltage matched the setpoint across the entire range of input voltages. The output-voltage ripple coefficient did not exceed 2%.
