Abstract <p>The possibility of power supply of consumers with auxiliary needs from the traction network of the metro has been considered. It has been shown that the technical and economic effect of the proposed solution will be formed by reducing excess energy recuperation during braking of trains, reducing energy losses during power supply of nontraction consumers with current-carrying means of a higher cross section and at a higher voltage, improving the quality of power supply in terms of voltage due to the use of controlled energy converters, and increasing the reliability of power supply. A real section of the electric-power system of the Sokolnicheskaya line of the Moscow metro has been presented within one intersubstation zone with the location of traction and step-down substations, as well as electric-power connections between them in order to estimate the location parameters of the power supply of consumers of their auxiliary needs. A basic diagram of the proposed distributed power-supply system for some consumers of their auxiliary needs from the traction network of the metro, which reflects the existing and proposed power-supply options, has been provided. The dependences of determining daily energy losses in a cable with power supply from an existing 0.4-kV line and power supply from an 825-V traction network, and distribution of fractions of recuperation current for consumption of traction load and auxiliary needs of electric rolling stock, as well as reduction of excess recuperation energy in brake rheostats, have been derived. According to preliminary estimates, when using the proposed distributed power-supply system from the traction network, due to reduction of excess recuperation energy, it is possible to save an additional 3–7% of energy used for train traction, as well as to reduce energy losses in feeder lines by 87.5%.</p>
