Abstract <p>Accurate determination of the state-of-charge (SOC) of a battery allows one to analyze its current state. The result of control over a battery state is optimization of its operation and extension of service life, which is affected by the number of charge/discharge cycles. The paper describes a comprehensive approach to impedance measurement based on the Coulomb method. The impedance-measurement methodology is designed to estimate the SOC of batteries used in electric vehicles under service conditions. To confirm the efficiency of the Coulomb method, the impedance measurements were carried out for two types of batteries, lithium-ion and lead–acid.</p>
