Abstract <p>An original design of a combined multidisc electric drive for removing ice from overhead lines is proposed. A generalized mathematical model with an analytical solution is developed, and special cases of the solution obtained are considered. The proposed design can be widely used, in addition to in the power-generation industry, in mechanical engineering, machine-tool construction, electrical engineering, etc.</p>
