An Induction Motor with Ceramic Insulated Ring Windings for Operation in a High-Radiation Area
摘要
The design of an induction motor with ring windings equipped with ceramic insulation, intended for operation in high radiation conditions, is considered. In enterprises engaged in nuclear-fuel processing, induction motors with a power of up to 20 kW and a stator random winding are used to drive dosing pumps. To extend the service life of these motors, they are relocated outside the radioactive chamber, complicating their maintenance. It is proposed to use ceramic insulation for the stator coils, which would allow for a longer service life of the motor without removing it from the radioactive zone. To enable the use of ring coils, a new motor stator design has been developed, in which the rotating magnetic field is created using a specially organized magnetic system. Tests of a prototype motor have shown that its maximum torque is lower than that of motors of classical design with the same power. Due to the presence of an axial component of the magnetic flux, eddy currents significantly affect the machine’s parameters. Changes made to the design of the first prototype motor aimed at increasing its maximum torque are presented. In the first stage, the modifications are tested using digital computational models, and in the second stage, through physical experiments.
