Abstract— <p>The results of simulations of amorphous polyethylene irradiations with swift heavy ions are presented. We combined the Monte Carlo TREKIS code and the LAMMPS molecular dynamics package with the AIREBO-M reactive force field to describe the damage along the entire uranium ion trajectories in polyethylene at the atomic level. As a general result, the mismatch between the positions of the maximum energy release and maximum damage on the ion trajectory was found.</p>
