Abstract

The alloys that combine high electrical conductivity and arc resistance to strengthen and restore the contact surfaces of electric arc furnace electrode holders have been analyzed in this work. It is shown that the use of mechanized electric arc overlaying welding with flux-cored strips consisting of a copper sheath and chromium-containing components in the core ensures the formation of a copper-based composite alloy with intermetallic and carbide phases in the welded metal. It is established that when developing a flux-cored strip composition for surfacing of an electrical erosion-resistant alloy, it is necessary to consider the composition and process properties of the core components to ensure an optimal combination of the performance properties.
