Abstract <p>The results of a study of the chemical composition and structure of corrosion resistant austenitic metal deposited by single‑ and two‑electrode gas‑shielded surfacing are discussed. Recommendations are given for producing a defect‑free cladding layer by surfacing with two electrode wires. It is shown that comparable resistance to intergranular corrosion is achieved with a reduced consumption (by approximately 30–35%) of electrode metal for forming the cladding layer and with a more technologically favorable bead shape when deposited with two wires.</p>
