Abstract <p>Traditional and new materials used in the manufacturing of machine friction elements have been reviewed. An analysis of the components of polymer composite materials that can be used in the production of friction elements has been conducted. The most optimum combination of components for a hybrid polymer composite material has been determined, enabling the manufacturing of machine friction elements with specified operational characteristics.</p>
