Systematization of the Errors in Noncontact Temperature Measurements in Metallurgy

Abstract
The errors that occur in metallurgy during pyrometer measurements are considered. It is shown that the main difficulties in measuring the temperature of a graphite electrode candle in the electric arc furnace may arise for an objective assessment of the radial temperature difference of the graphite electrode. In the case of the electrode graphitization process in the Kastner furnaces, the main difficulties are associated with the presence of an absorbing medium between the pyrometer and the object of measurement (release of triatomic gas vapors in the furnace space).
