The Zirconium Geochemistry in Late Magmatic Process of Ultramafic–Mafic Intrusives Based on Example of the Kivakka Layered Pluton (North Karelia)

Abstract
Zircon is an important mineral, which preserves geochemical indicators of magmatic process and is widely used in geochronology. Recently, hydrothermal grains were recognized in addition to magmatic zircon; however, thermodynamic Zr behavior in postmagmatic processes is still unknown. In this paper, the Zr behavior in ultramafic–mafic intrusions is considered based on the example of the Kivakka layered pluton. Zirconium, as an incoherent element, accumulates in melt during crystallization of a pluton, is crystallized in the Upper contact part of the intrusion, and then is hydrothermally transformed and redeposited during postmagmatic process.
