Abstract <p>Analysis of the fluctuations of the net electric charge of hadrons in heavy ion collisions has been performed within the two-component HYDJET++ model. It was shown that the net-charge fluctuations cannot be reproduced within the model based on a grand canonical ensemble approach. Here we present the results with the modification of the HYDJET++ model, introducing charge correlations into the thermal part. The results are summarized for a wide energy range from RHIC to LHC.</p>
