摘要

Hydrogen bond liquid crystal mixtures are derived from α-keto glutaric acid and p-n alkyloxy benzoic acids whose carbon chain length are fixed to be hexyloxy and nonyloxy. Confirmation of intermolecular hydrogen bond between the mixtures is carried through Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis in the range 4000–400 cm−1. Mesophase observation and phase sequence of the mixtures are undertaken with the aid of Polarizing Optical Microscope (POM). Thermal behavior and thermophysical properties of the mixtures are analyzed through Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) in the temperature range of 40–130 °C. Nematic, smectic C, and smectic G are the mesophases observed in the mixtures prepared.
