AI-driven threat detection and response framework for protecting U.S. critical infrastructure from cyberattacks
摘要
Cybersecurity plays a crucial role in protecting the critical infrastructure of a nation, especially systems that are essential to public safety and national security. In the United States, rising cyber threats targeting computer-controlled systems such as water treatment facilities and transportation networks have highlighted the urgent need for advanced protection. This paper explores how artificial intelligence is being used to enhance real-time detection and response to cyber threats. AI technologies offer improved capabilities not only in identifying potential risks but also in responding swiftly to mitigate damage. The study examines recent advancements in AI, outlines practical approaches for its integration into infrastructure protection, and reviews real-world incidents such as the Colonial Pipeline ransomware attack to illustrate both the strengths and current limitations of AI in this domain. Additionally, the paper emphasizes the importance of developing effective policies and regulatory frameworks to support long-term cybersecurity improvements across critical U.S. infrastructure sectors.
