<p>The Freiburg Data Excellence Strategy is centered around the goal of optimizing the handling of urban data and fostering a&#xa0;culture of data excellence in the long term. Since 2022, a&#xa0;pivotal step towards achieving this goal has been the establishment of the urban data platform, DATEN:RAUM:FREIBURG. This platform serves as a&#xa0;central infrastructure, facilitating the integration of high-quality, interconnected, and accessible data from diverse fields. The platform unites systems such as FR.ITZ and GDI-FR, incorporates IoT data, and creates a&#xa0;central access point for all areas of administration as well as for external stakeholders. Data excellence in Freiburg is not only demonstrated through technical innovation but also through the consistent implementation of clear governance structures, quality assurance measures, comprehensive documentation, and the provision of meaningful metadata. This approach ensures a&#xa0;fast, secure, and legally compliant data provision, which in turn promotes cross-departmental collaboration and serves as a&#xa0;foundation for data-driven planning and decision-making. By implementing the Data Excellence Strategy and establishing the DATEN:RAUM:FREIBURG, Freiburg positions itself as a&#xa0;pioneer in excellent data management within the municipal context.</p>
