<p>As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to develop, it has become difficult to distinguish AI-generated from authentic content. This poses significant risks: Generative AI is increasingly being used for manipulation, fraud, and disinformation. In response to these risks, the EU AI Act introduces an obligation to mark AI-generated content, which comes into force in August 2026. This article examines the legal background, explains what requirements marks should meet, and provides an overview of the different technical approaches to marking AI-generated content.</p>
