摘要

Introduction

The transoral approach has served as a minimally invasive option, providing straightforward access to the parapharyngeal space (PPS) with lower morbidity; however, endoscope-assisted visualization and monitor magnification now are favored.

Objective

to use the endoscopic-assisted transoral (EATO) approach for the resection of PPS tumors, emphasizing the safety and efficacy of this technique.

Methods

This study included patients diagnosed with suspected benign parapharyngeal tumors who underwent surgical excision via an endoscopic-assisted transoral approach.

Results

In included 13 patients, complete oncological resection could be achieved without major intraoperative complications and without injury to vital structures of the PPS.

Conclusion

The transoral endoscopic-assisted approach to the PPS seems to be safe and effective for selected PPS tumors with satisfactory outcomes.
