Background <p>Chronic ankle instability (CAI) is a problem that needs proper assessment and treatment of the associated deficits to restore the normal static and dynamic postural stability.</p> Objectives <p>This study was to examine the effect of two balance training programs: Weight<b>-</b>bearing Exercise for Better Balance (WEBB) program and unilateral balance training exercises on static and dynamic postural stability in CAI.</p> Methods <p>The study included 35 females with CAI. Randomly, they were allocated into three groups. The first experimental group (A) consisted of 13 females who performed the WEBB program. The second experimental group (B) consisted of 12 females who performed unilateral balance training program. The third control group (C) consisted of 10 females who did not receive any intervention. Their mean ages, weights, heights, and body mass indices were 21.65 ± 1.80&#xa0;years, 63.78 ± 9.31&#xa0;kg, 161.75 ± 6.23&#xa0;cm, and 23.96 ± 1.76&#xa0;kg/m<sup>2</sup>, respectively. Static balance was assessed by single-limb stance time test, and dynamic balance was assessed by star excursion balance test for all participants prior to and four weeks post balance training.</p> Results <p>Static and dynamic balance were improved post-test mean values of static and dynamic balance measures in comparison to the pre-test values in both experimental groups A and B.</p> Conclusion <p>The two tested balance training programs augment static and dynamic postural stability in CAI.</p>

Background
