Background <p>Neuropathic pain is a challenging condition characterized by sensory abnormalities resulting from nerve damage or disease. Current treatments often come with undesirable side effects and limitations. This study explores an innovative approach to neuropathic pain management using the unique properties of wool fibers, including their electrostatic characteristics and heat-retaining abilities. After laboratory experiments measuring the static charge build up over different wool yarns, knitting wool was chosen to be suitable of our inquiry. Then wool wrist bands were woven and introduced to 20 male patients with neuropathic pain in their hands. They wore the wool wrist bands for 2&#xa0;h, and sympathetic skin responses (SSR) were measured before and after the application of the wrist band.</p> Results <p>The results showed a significant reduction in SSR latency after wearing the wool wrist band, indicating enhanced sympathetic activity and potential pain relief.</p> Conclusion <p>Wool's electrostatic properties and heat retention have previously been linked to pain reduction in other studies. Wool fibers' hold promise as a complementary safe treatment strategy for neuropathic pain, providing an alternative to traditional pharmacological approaches. Further research in this area may offer new options for neuropathic pain management.</p>
