<p>Effective communication, specifically proficiency in the English language, is an essential skill one must develop to be globally competitive in this fast-paced, technologically driven generation. English as a Second Language (ESL) countries are making significant strides not only in acquiring the English language but also in mastering it for professional purposes. Several tertiary-level schools from the Philippines, an ESL country, are working with internationally recognized third-party organizations to conduct the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC), one of the globally recognized English Proficiency Tests (EPT). Given that English proficiency is significant for students, the researchers aimed to examine whether EPT scores are significantly related to students’ academic performance in tertiary-level professional courses. The study employed a descriptive correlational research design. It was participated in by 237 students from various programs under allied health and sciences, technology-based, business management, and civil engineering departments, identified using stratified random sampling. The findings show that the students’ TOEIC scores and GWA have a moderate positive correlation.</p>
