Application of photosensitizers in infectious diabetic chronic wounds
摘要
Diabetic patients frequently face the formidable challenge of impaired chronic wound healing, which is intricately associated with persistent inflammation. This inflammation is induced by factors like infection, biofilm formation, and the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. As an innovative therapeutic modality, photosensitizers have shown remarkable potential in treating infected chronic wounds in diabetes. This article delved deep into the root causes of chronic wound non-healing in diabetes. It meticulously elaborated on how photosensitizers act during the bacterial killing process. Additionally, it presented a comprehensive overview of the current applications of photosensitizers in the treatment of diabetic chronic wounds. Moreover, this article explored the synergistic application of photosensitizers in combination with other therapeutic strategies, including stem cells, growth factors, and antibiotics. Such combinations aimed to expedite diabetic wound healing through multiple mechanisms. These insights not only offered novel perspectives but also presented potential therapeutic strategies for clinical treatment.
