Optimus: smart clock rate for WLAN
摘要
Wireless dynamic frequency scaling (WDFS) is a novel technology that enhances the applicability of IoT by reducing the clock frequency of wireless communication devices to achieve energy savings and extend the network life cycle. Traditional WDFS schemes are highly dependent on the environment and lack sufficient support for the most popular OFDM modulation. This paper first analyzes the challenges faced by WDFS in OFDM modulation. Then, this paper proposes an innovative wireless dynamic frequency scaling (WDFS) scheme named Optimus. Compared to traditional WDFS schemes, Optimus is a comprehensive solution that includes both uplink and downlink transmission strategies. Without affecting QoS, Optimus allows wireless devices to switch clock rate under their own capabilities and external environments. To enhance Optimus’ generalization ability, we introduce an intelligent detector to optimize the detection of downclocking signals. Experimental results demonstrate that Optimus outperforms existing schemes in terms of transmission rate and detection probability, particularly under low SNR conditions. In intelligent detection, this paper discusses how to optimize wireless signal detection further using machine learning and deep learning techniques, which provides a key reference for future intelligent signal detection.
