Background <p>Intrinsic vascular anomalies originating from the internal jugular vein are uncommon and often manifest as a mass in the neck region.</p> Case presentation <p>This case report provides a 17-year-old Iranian female patient with no significant medical history other than a substantial cutaneous hemangioma on her face examined for dental operations. Computed tomography angiography revealed two major problems with blood vessels: the right internal jugular vein (IJV) was missing from the jugular foramen to the thoracic inlet, and the left internal jugular vein had two separate venous channels that maintained their flow and size.</p> Conclusion <p>These findings are significant in relation to facial hemangiomas, as they may indicate underlying developmental anomalies of the branchial arch derivatives. Recognizing these variations is essential for procedural planning, particularly in interventions related to central venous access, head and neck surgery, or embolization therapy.</p>

Background

Intrinsic vascular anomalies originating from the internal jugular vein are uncommon and often manifest as a mass in the neck region.

Case presentation

This case report provides a 17-year-old Iranian female patient with no significant medical history other than a substantial cutaneous hemangioma on her face examined for dental operations.
