Background <p>Surgical treatment for giant thyroid tumors is complex and carries a high risk of complications. Visualization of the tumor shape and its associations with the surrounding tissue are difficult with two-dimensional imaging techniques. It is thus important to explore more effective approaches for preoperative evaluation and surgical assistance.</p> Cases presentations <p>Three patients with giant thyroid tumors underwent successful surgery with no complications at Liaocheng People’s Hospital, between January and December 2024. One patient was a 58-year-old male, while the other two were 60-year-old female patients. All the patients are Chinese, both in nationality and ethnicity. We combined tumor imaging information with three-dimensional medical imaging to enable visualization for preoperative assessment, guiding successful surgical planning.</p> Conclusions <p>The application of three-dimensional medical imaging during surgery for giant thyroid tumors significantly enhanced the accuracy, safety, and efficiency of surgery, resulting in improved patient outcomes and prognosis.</p>

Background

Surgical treatment for giant thyroid tumors is complex and carries a high risk of complications. Visualization of the tumor shape and its associations with the surrounding tissue are difficult with two-dimensional imaging techniques. It is thus important to explore more effective approaches for preoperative evaluation and surgical assistance.

Cases presentations

Three patients with giant thyroid tumors underwent successful surgery with no complications at Liaocheng People’s Hospital, between January and December 2024.
