摘要

A 10-year-old intact female Vietnamese Pot-bellied pet pig (Sus scrofa domesticus) presented to the Production Animal Clinic at the Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital in South Africa (OVAH) with recurrent vaginal bleeding as the primary complaint. Clinical examination, vaginoscopy with vaginal cytology and abdominal ultrasound localised the haemorrhage to the reproductive tract and initially revealed a pyometra. After the failure of medical treatment with a luteolytic agent, anti-inflammatory and antibiotics, an exploratory laparotomy was performed, during which two macroscopical uterine lesions were observed. Histopathology identified the lesions as a squamous cell carcinoma infiltrating the endo- and myometrium and a focal endometrial polyp. An ovariohysterectomy resulted in a full recovery. No evidence of pulmonary metastases was found.
