Objective <p>This study aims to explore the current level of awareness and functional requirements of Chinese Women patients with chronic perineal pain towards AI self-management assistance tools, providing a basis for the development of localized AI self-management assistance tools for chronic perineal pain.</p> Methods <p>This study adopted a qualitative research design. Purposive sampling was used to select female patients with chronic perineal pain from three hospitals in Shanghai from February 2026 to April 2026 for semi-structured in-depth interviews. The collected data were analyzed using the Colaizzi phenomenological method with the assistance of NVivo 15.0 software.</p> Result <p>A total of 23 research subjects were included in this study, with a mean age of 35.74 ± 11.13 years and a mean disease duration of 8.04 ± 3.99 months. Two themes and six subthemes were identified: (1) Patients' cognition and attitude towards AI-assisted self-management tools, including 3 subthemes, lack of understanding and boundary awareness of AI-assisted tools, population heterogeneity, and concerns; (2) Patients' diverse demands for AI-assisted tools, including 3 subthemes, pain detection and assessment, individualized self-management guidance, and information security and accuracy.</p> Conclusion <p>Chinese women patients with chronic perineal pain lack sufficient understanding of artificial intelligence-assisted tools and show different intentions due to considerations of privacy and accuracy. At the same time, they demonstrated a clear demand for intelligent assessment and personalized guidance. Therefore, it is necessary to develop culturally sensitive local artificial intelligence tools. In addition, nurses need to understand these specific needs and establish partnerships with health professionals to enhance patients' awareness and ultimately improve their self-management skills and quality of life.</p>

Objective
