<p>Modern armed conflicts are characterized by the widespread use of high-energy weapons, resulting in an increased incidence of severe combined injuries, including those involving the genitourinary system. The involvement of the genitourinary system, especially the lower part of the genitourinary system in males, is common and clinically significant due to the complexity of its treatment and subsequent impact on patients` quality of life. These injuries may be classified according to different degrees of tissue destruction leading to different levels of treatment sophistication. Most of these unfortunate males present with multiple injuries involving different segments of the urethra. In this article, we evaluated the use and role of the staged buccal mucosa graft (BMG) in the surgical reconstruction of these challenging injuries, and also the impact on both urinary function and quality of life.</p>
