A case report of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor resection via fiberoptic bronchoscopy with literature review
摘要
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a relatively rare pediatric neoplasm that usually presents as a solitary pulmonary lesion and may lead to both intrapulmonary and extrapulmonary complications. Although surgical resection remains the standard treatment, endoscopic resection via fiberoptic bronchoscopy has been rarely reported. We describe the case of a 7-year-old boy admitted for recurrent cough. Imaging revealed pulmonary atelectasis, and the tumor was successfully resected using snare electrocautery during fiberoptic bronchoscopy. No recurrence was observed during follow-up. This case suggests that bronchoscopic resection may represent a viable alternative treatment for selected cases of IMT.
