Latent profiles of health empowerment and associated factors among older adults hospitalised with stroke: a single-centre cross-sectional study
摘要
This study aims to explore the health empowerment of elderly ischemic stroke patients in China and analyze its associated factors.
MethodsIschemic stroke patients hospitalized in the Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation of a tertiary hospital in Daqing from June 2025 to March 2026 were the research subjects. The general information questionnaire, the Health Empowerment Nursing Evaluation Scale for stroke patients, the electronic health literacy scale, the chronic disease resource utilization scale, the simplified version of the disease perception scale, the family APGAR questionnaire, and the coping style scale were used to investigate. The potential profile analysis was used to explore the potential subtypes of health empowerment in ischemic stroke patients, and multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the associated factors of different types of health empowerment.
ResultsHealth empowerment in elderly ischemic stroke patients can be divided into three subtypes: low health empowerment - low information access group (53.39%), moderate health empowerment - balanced support group (8.21%), and high health empowerment - high stress coping group (38.39%). Multiple logistic regression showed that electronic health literacy, disease perception, and family care were independently correlated with patients’ health empowerment levels (all P < 0.05); However, the utilization of chronic disease resources and coping strategies did not have independent predictive effects in multiple logistic regression (P > 0.05), nor did they include significant influencing factors.
ConclusionThere is a heterogeneity in the level of health empowerment of elderly ischemic stroke patients, and healthcare professionals should take targeted measures to improve their health empowerment level and promote their physical and mental health.
