<b>Abstract</b>— <p>Among wild edible macromycetes, fungi of the genera <i>Lactarius</i> and <i>Lactifluus</i> (Russulaceae) occupy a prominent place, being the most widely consumed mushrooms in Russia and around the world. This work attempts to summarize the species diversity, as well as the ecological–chemical, medicobiological, and nutritional aspects of the edible mushrooms <i>Lactarius</i> and <i>Lactifluus</i>.</p>
